Anouncements:A, an, and a can also be found in our.We have a compiled a great set of reading in listening in our FAQ. We think most here will find something useful in there. Sort by Flair:. My vote definitely goes to PocketCasts.
I much prefer the layout options to view your subscriptions. In my experience, I have also found the search feature to be more useful than Overcast. I listen to podcasts almost everyday and went on the same quest to find the best app to use. I’ve been using PocketCasts for over a year now.The problem that I personally had with Apple Podcasts is that if I was in the middle of an episode and closed the app, my place would not be saved the next time I opened it.
Even if that was a glitch, it’s still basic compared to the others.Overcast is not a bad app. I just visually did not like it as much as PocketCasts. I believe it’s more expensive as well.Downcast is one that I did not really delve into so I do not have enough experience to form an opinion.I’ve also tried TuneIn and Spotify. I enjoy Spotify but there are a couple podcasts that I listen to that are not yet on the app. I’ve had pocketcasts for a couple of years now and when I went to IOS people were raving about overcast. I checked it out. It’s excellent for playback - has great silence trimming and the voice boost is fantastic (no need to download the podcast for those to work).
That said, the app itself does not work for myself. I’m not a fan of the design, I’m not a fan of the way podcasts are displayed and the discover area is god awful - why do I need to link my twitter account to it?!This is where pocketcasts shines as it has a great discover section and it also presents the podcasts out in an appealing grid that is also customisable. There are some features that I’d love to come to pocketcasts, such as the better silence trimming, voice boost and playback speed and the haptic feedbacks for IOS.
But the pocketcasts apps design is just so much better. Oh and the web browser (beta version) is fantastic too! Overcasts is rubbish. I’ve pretty much bought them all, PocketCast gets the nod but Castro wins for me.I have 300+ subscriptions, and being able to single out podcasts to download episodes immediately, set some to archive and not bother me (but still be available for me to browse when I’m in the mood for them), and the rest to go through an inbox so I can pick and choose what episodes are worthwhile, is what wins for me.The UI of overcast doesn’t work for me, as PocketCast just knocks it out of the park.Only downside to Castro is there’s no iPad app.

I like downcast but it’s missing a “binge listen” feature. I want to set a podcast to download the oldest unlistened episode for a podcast and download the next one once I listen.
I find I have to micromanage downcast to catch up with podcasts and still manage my device memory. The killer feature for me is the auidio compression and speed up.
I listen to podcasts at 2x and watch videos at 2x these days. Anything else seems plodding. I want to do it for Netflix now so I can watch more shows in less time. I tried paid and unpaid there was always something always bugging the paid ones got complex with new update and the free ones had way to many ads, I tried the infamous one as well and then I found my choice:. It said it was Ad-free whilst being free to download, I thought there must be a catch but, still I gave it a try and then when i used it it was pleasant experience all and all. Sometimes, I didn't got episodes on time and I contacted them conveying the same and they we're fast enough to response and notify me that they have put up the new episode of my subscribed podcasts. The major thing is I and my wife listened to podcasts every morning while driving to work most podcasts app weren't compatible with Bluetooth, but, this app works fine.
It's simple to use and very useful. It has grown so much I downloaded at 5k downloads and today it is over 100k. My vote is always with.
